Memory Foam is sometimes called Visco Elastic Foam. Visco Elastc Foam was developed in 1966 at NASA’s Ames Research Centre to improve the safety of aircraft cushions. One of the scientists, Charles A Yost of the Stencel Aero Engineering Corporation named the temperature-sensitive foam “temper foam”. During the early 1980s NASA released memory foam to the public domain. Contrary to widespread belief, memory foam was not used in any space flights.
